September is the time for Change!
Lisa Pierson writes...
September is the new ‘New Year’ resolution time…….well it is for me….. I have decided – ring in the Changes, a few months early…not at New Year!!
The success rate of setting a resolution is pretty poor, studies have shown that less than 25% of people actually stay committed to their resolutions after just 30 days, and only 8% accomplish them.
To achieve any resolution involves change……so I am starting now and here is why….
Over the summer I have had time to reflect on a number of issues, whilst juggling time between two countries, not only impacting family and work balance, it has impacted me – now is the time to take some initiative and make some Changes!! – not waiting till January 1st
I am not going to bore you all with what my changes are going to be, that is not what this is about, this is about highlighting that when it comes to making changes in our lives, we have to be aligned with our Core Values and our aspirations, or goals, whichever you prefer.
Having been in the coaching world for two decades I am fortunate enough to know what my core values are, and I am aware that I am not always honouring them as best I can. Isn’t it fascinating to know that we humans can know exactly what is good, beneficial and safe for us, yet we will often involve ourselves in activities which we know are not good or beneficial to our health and wellbeing, or indeed our careers.
By taking some positive actions, I know I am going to feel more comfortable with the choices I make, whilst continuing to raise my self-awareness on this self-development journey.
What else is there that can help us if we have already tried to make changes and not always reached our potential?
Think about work…..have you always felt comfortable with change or how it is approached and implemented?
How is your relationship with your partner, your family, your work colleagues, your boss?
In my work I use psychometric tools to measure preference and behaviours, this is a really good way to help us understand how we prefer to communicate and process information, together with our behaviours towards leadership, team work, and Change.
The Change Maker profile, takes us on a different journey of awareness entirely and initially I wasn’t too sure if I had it right…..I am a Strategist-Playmaker………!!!! and the word Strategy makes me feel a little too grown up and clever!!
Thankfully, spending time with Dr John from GC Index in my accreditation, together with guidance from Simon Phillips and David Walker and lots of the other fabulous Change Makers at the Change Maker Group…….it makes great sense!
Using my Change Maker profile, I can recognise how and why I do what I do in my personal and business life, it is another level of understanding my proclivities (another word for preference and personal strength) towards change and being part of a change initiative.
If you are looking at making some changes and want to learn more about what this great tool can do for you and your life, both personal and professional, please do get in touch……………..why wait till January 1st?
I look forward to hearing from you.
